Last Time Out In The Championship

Birmingham’s last match was away at promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium. The Blues fell to 1-0 defeat, although it could have been a lot worse. Britt Assombalonga got Boro off to the perfect start, cutting inside from the left before curling an effort past Connal Trueman in goal. Boro hit the post twice before half time in a truly dominant display. Birmingham had a couple of chances in the second half, but nothing that looked like getting them back in the game

Last Time Out In The Championship

The Swans continued their strong start to the season with a 1-0 win over Preston at the Liberty Stadium. It could have been more for Swansea, who saw an Oli McBurnie penalty saved after 12 minutes. The Jack Army didn’t have long to wait for the opening goal however. Jay Fulton met a Joel Asoro cross with a looping header over Declan Rudd. It was the Scotsman’s first league goal for Swansea, after previously scoring in the EFL Cup. Both teams had chances in the second half, including a disallowed Preston equaliser. The Swansea defence remained strong however, claiming a second win and a first clean sheet of the season.

Birmingham City v Swansea City Head to Head Record

Swansea and Birmingham have only played each other 4 times in the last 20 years, after just 1 season in the same league. The last time they were in the same league was 2008. Birmingham won the first fixture, with the second ending in a 0-0 draw. Since then, the two teams have played each other in both the League Cup and the FA Cup. Birmingham won the game in the League Cup, but Swansea were the victors the last time the two teams met. A Wilfried Bony double ensured Swansea went through to the 5th round of the FA Cup. The Ivorian won’t be fit for this game, but Swans fans will be hoping Oli McBurnie will be able to replicate his brace.
