Bet UK Backs Hennessy Sports
Bet UK has sealed a sponsorship deal with Hennessy Sports, the boxing promotion owned by Mick Hennessy. Bet UK has become the official betting partner of the Hughie Fury vs Chris Norrad card, which will be shown on Channel 5. As an event sponsor, the ring canvas will show the Bet UK logo, as well as further branding throughout the event. This sponsorship also gives Bet UK a chance to put various online betting markets in front of a new audience.
Tale of the Tape: Hughie Fury
Hughie Fury (21-2) looks to get back to winning ways after a cut lead him to lose by decision in the IBF final eliminator against Kubrat Pulev. The 24-year-old has 23 fights under his belt with a wealth of experience and titles including a British title reign and WBO championship fighting experience. Although he is Tyson Fury’s cousin, the young boxer has also shown shades of brilliance throughout his career. Now fighting undefeated Canadian lumberjack Chris Norrad (17-0), Fury is set to build another run, as he’s enjoyed some excellent promotion with some great opportunities. Promoted by Mick Hennessy, Channel 5 is a quality platform to build his exposure and cement his British boxing profile.
Fury will return to his hometown of Manchester, the first time fighting in front of his northern brethren since his WBO World title fight against Joseph Parker in September 2017. Understandably, Fury is excited to take this fight and implement the fixes he’s made after going back to the drawing board. This is the first step to putting Fury back on the road to a world title shot.
Where’s The Value?
Although Fury is a huge favourite at 1/50 with Bet UK pricing the fight to not go the distance at 1/5, it’s clear that the traders and the boxing community expect Fury to tear Norrad apart fairly early on. Plus, fighting in his hometown of Manchester this is a big comeback fight, so essentially this is a huge promotion party for Fury.
With 11 stoppages on his record, 7 of them have come in the first 2 rounds, so here at Bet UK we think the value is in the group round betting markets.
The bout will take place Saturday May 22
Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
Coverage will start on Channel 5 at 9pm with the undercard starting at 7pm on 5Spike
12 Three-minute rounds
The undercard features chief support from Alex Dilmaghani, an exciting southpaw who has 17 wins in 18 fights. He learned the sweet science in Mexico where he was the sparring partner for Juan Manuel Marquez in preparation for the Manny Pacquiao fights. He’s facing Czech fighter Martin Parlagi in a bid to push himself into world championship contention.
Also trained by Peter Fury, Savannah Marshall looks to add another notch onto her perfect boxing record of 5-0. She has built a reputation as one of the most exciting female scrappers on the boxing scene. She made history becoming the first British female to win gold at the World Championship in China.
