Last Time Out For Bayern

Bayern Munich restarted their Bundesliga campaign with a straight forward 2-0 win over Union Berlin. In normal circumstances, the hostile Union Berlin crowd might have made this a difficult encounter, but Bayern looked comfortable from the first minute to the last. Both sides had chances early on, but Bayern were clearly more dominant. Thomas Muller had a goal disallowed on 16 minutes, before the breakthrough finally came just before the break. Neven Subotic conceded a penalty that was easily dispatched by Robert Lewandowski, for his 26th league goal of the season. The game lost some of its spark after the second half, and it took another 40 minutes for Bayern to double their lead. Benjamin Pavard was the unlikely hero, heading in Joshua Kimmich’s corner. The win took Bayern even closer to another Bundesliga title, and also carried on Lewandowski’s remarkable scoring record. He has now scored 40 goals in 34 goals this year, and the mid season break doesn’t appear to have slowed him down.

Last Time Out For Frankfurt

Frankfurt’s poor run of form stretched through the midseason break, as they suffered a 4th loss in a row against Borussia Monchengladbach. It took just 37 seconds for Frankfurt to concede as Alassane Plea took advantage of sloppy defending. 6 minutes later, the lead was doubled when Marcus Thuram was left free to roam in the 6 yard box. With the game seemingly over before it had begun, there wasn’t much of a spectacle for the remaining 80 minutes. Some life was injected into the game with 18 minutes left, as Frankfurt conceded a penalty that was confidently scored by Ramy Bensebaini. Andre Silva pulled one back for the home side late on, but it was too little too late for Frankfurt. The defeat means that Frankfurt have now conceded 13 goals in 4 games, and when coming up against Bayern, that record will probably get even worse.

Where’s The Value Bet?

In recent years, Bayern v Frankfurt has been one of the highest scoring games in the Bundesliga. In the last 8 games, there have been 33 goals scored, and incredible 12 in the last 2 meetings. Both of those matches ended in a 5-1 win for the home side. Bayern Munich are still the same beast as those previous encounters, but Frankfurt are a very different side. Goalscorers Luka Jovic and Sebastian Haller have both left the club, so although goals have been lost in that sense, we can still expect their now leaky defence to allow plenty of chances. With 4 goals per game on average over the last 8 games, we can expect a similar amount this weekend. Over 4.5 goals at 6/4 looks like great value for what should be an entertaining match.

Bet UK’s Headline Betting Tip

Bayern Munich To Win To Nil @ 11/10

Although Bayern’s forward play is often lauded, their defence has arguably been more impressive. They have only conceded 3 goals in 7 matches, and will expect another clean sheet against a lacklustre Frankfurt side.
