Liverpool’s Premier League Form
Last Time Out For Liverpool
Liverpool won their first away game of the season away at St Mary’s with a less than convincing 2-1 result over Southampton. Southampton started the game brighter with Maya Yoshida and Che Adams both having close range headers that failed to find the back of the net. After 30 minutes though, it was Liverpool who took the lead through Sadio Mane’s powerful strike on the edge of the area. Liverpool continued to threaten with Roberto Firmino missing a couple of simple chances. The Brazilian made up for his mistakes however, with a calm finish on 71 minutes to double Liverpool’s lead. Stand in ‘keeper Adrian gifted Southampton a route back into the game after his pass was deflected into the net by Danny Ings. Ings had the chance to complete an unlikely comeback with minutes remaining, but couldn’t get the right connection on Yann Valery’s low cross. Early signs point to some potential struggles in Liverpool’s defence, after they have failed to keep a clean sheet against both Norwich and Southampton. They still have arguably the best front 3 in Europe, so they will at least be expecting to outscore their opponents this season.
Arsenal’s Premier League Form
Last Time Out For Arsenal
For the first time in 10 years, Arsenal managed to win their opening two games of the season with a 2-1 win over Burnley. Arsenal welcomed Alexandre Lacazette back to the line up, with record signing Nicolas Pepe still having to make his impact from the bench. It was the returning Lacazette who opened the scoring after 13 minutes. The Frenchman controlled Dani Ceballos’ corner before sliding the ball beneath Nick Pope. Just before halftime, Burnley grabbed a goal of their own as Ashley Barnes continued his strong start to the season to level the scores. After the break, Arsenal continued to dominate and retook the lead on 64 minutes. Ceballos was again involved, nicking the ball off Johan Gudmunsson and finding Aubameyang, who in turn found the bottom corner from 20 yards. Nicolas Pepe was introduced, but apart from a highlight reel nutmeg on Ben Mee, he failed to make a significant contribution. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is still Arsenal’s main man and will be looking to continue his form of 2 goals in 2 games.
Where’s The Value Bet
It’s no shock that Liverpool have one of the best front three’s in world football, but no one has felt their wrath quite like Arsenal have in recent years. At home against Arsenal, Firmino, Mane and Salah have all scored at every opportunity they have been given. In 4 games against Arsenal at Anfield since Robert Firmino joined, the Brazilian has scored 7 goals. Mane has scored 3 in 3 since joining and Salah has scored 2 in 2. Even more incredibly, Firmino has actually opened the scoring in each of his 4 home appearances against the Gunners. Firmino clearly fancies his chances against Arsenal, so we’ve gone for him to score first again this weekend, at a price of 9/2.

Bet UK’s Headline Betting Tip
Both sides have opened the season looking good going forward, but perhaps showing a bit of fragility at the back. We’ve gone for over 3.5 goals in a game that could easily turn out to be an early game of the season contender.
