Bet UK Punter Strikes Lucky With a 325/1 Four-Fold
One Bet UK Punter had a weekend to remember recently when they won a massive 325/1 bet, winning over £30,000 in the process. The bet was a four fold featuring 4 horses racing on Saturday 4th January. After backing Mercy Mercy Me (4/1) at Sandown, Sword Exceed (7/1) at Lingfield and Scheihallon Munro (5/4) at Newcastle, all eyes were on Battle Of Marathon (11/2) in the 14:50 at Lingfield. In the end, it wasn’t even close, with Darragh Keenan riding home to win by 1 ½ lengths.
The Winning Bet
|13:20 Sandown||Mercy Mercy Me||4/1||Won|
|14:15 Lingfield||Sword Exceed||7/1||Won|
|14:35 Newcastle||Scheihallon Munro||5/4||Won|
|14:50 Lingfield||Battle Of Marathon||11/2||Won|
How The Day Unfolded
The win started with the 3rd race of the day at Sandown. Mercy Mercy Me came into the race as second favourite, just edged out by Dashing Perk who went off at 7/4. It was Dashing Perk who looked the strongest and was in the lead after jumping the last hurdle. Harry Cobden used his years of experience however and willed Mercy Mercy Me over the line as a winner, getting the 4 fold off to a perfect start.
Next up was the first of 2 Lingfield races, as Sword Exceed lined up as a 7/1 outsider. It was a wide open field, with 12 horses all coming into the race with a decent shout of at least a place. At the start of the race, Sword Exceed started poorly and it looked like the 4 fold was going to be over. But an incredibly strong finish pushed him up the field, eventually edging the win by ½ a length over Boom The Groom.
The 3rd race of the day was the tightest of the lot, with a win by a neck at Newcastle. Scheihallon Munro was the shortest odds of the 4 fold and should have been the easiest win of the day. It was only a 3 horse race, with favourite Albert’s Back eventually finishing last. Scheihallon Munro was actually in control throughout the race and looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory. A late push from Stradivarius Davis threatened the lead, but Murno held on for the tightest of wins.
Finally, it came down to Battle Of Marathon in the 14:50 at Lingfield. In a 7 horse race, Battle of Marathon was somewhat of an outsider, lining up against a 2/1F in Getchagetchagetcha. Battle Of Marathon was held back by Darragh Keenan for the majority of the race, until reaching the final furlongs of the course. From 2f, he was ridden hard for the final stretch, taking him from the rear up to the top of the pack. Inside the final furlong, Battle of Marathon took the lead and held on for a 1 ½ length lead. That gave our punter his final win out of 4, landing him over £30,000 in the process. Battle of Marathon is back in action soon, and is running again on Sunday in the 2:20 at Sandown.
