World Cup 2013

The 2013 Rugby League World Cup will be hosted by Great Britain. It will be the fourteenth staging of the World Cup. It will be the fifth Rugby League World Cup to be held in the United Kingdom. The event is being held as part of what is known as the “Golden Decade” in British sport.

The Rugby League World Cup is an international competition between men’s national teams from member nations of the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF).

The previous competition was held in Australia in 2008 and was won for the first time by New Zealand after beating the host nation 34-20 in Brisbane. Australia are the most successful side in the history of the World Cup competition, winning it nine times. Great Britain have won the competition three times but now compete as separate nations.

The 2013 competition will have fourteen teams as opposed to the previous tournament and up to twenty nations will be involved in the qualification process.

All major UK bookmakers will offers odds on the winner of the World Cup and individual matches nearer the time. The current favourites are Australia who will be sore after missing out on the trophy on home turf and are considered to be the best team by far in the world of Rugby Football League.
